About Us
Hi! I’m Elizabeth (Lizzie) Stier, and I founded Kid in a Candy Store (Community Edition) in 2021 because possibly the only feeling better than being a kid in a candy store, is being a kid who helps or recognizes other kids in need.
Thank you to our friends and family who have supported me over the past three years as we supported Supplies for Success, Children’s Medical Fund, and UJA Federation. Together we have raised over $15,000 and it is incredible to see the difference that we are making!
This year, we are doing something totally different. We have three new items all designed in the loving memory and spirit of two boys from my community who were tragically killed by a drunk driver. I will never forget when my mom hung up the phone on the morning of May 4th, 2023 and was clearly crying. I made her tell me what was wrong and even though I was only 10 years old, I knew it was a moment that I would never forget. How could it be? Two boys — Drew and Ethan — just a little older than me — were out celebrating an amazing tennis victory and then they were gone. Our town is not a big one and the loss of Ethan and Drew has touched every single one of us. We think of them every day and all I wanted to know was how could I help? What could I do?
For me, the best way to honor the boys is through this project and supporting their individual foundations. I have spent a lot of time talking through items and options with my parents and the team and I wanted this year to be unique and special for the boys. We came up with the following:
“Peace, Love, Tennis” Tube
This item is fun. It is a true crowd-pleaser, just like the boys when they were on the tennis court. And the stress ball is a forever keepsake.
Happy Holidays Tennis Cookie and Chocolate Tennis Ball Box
This item comes from a place of gratitude. For every day that we have, for the memories of two extraordinary boys, and for our community that shows up every day.
Spread Love in 2025 Gummy Charcuterie Kit and Cutting Board
Spreading love in 2025 is what we need to do. For all of us. For the boys. And we hope you will enjoy not just the candy, but the board that you can keep (or gift!) to remind us of the sweet goodness that comes from our efforts together.
All proceeds from this project will be split between the Drew Hassenbein Foundation and the Ethan Falkowitz Foundation. I know it will never be enough, but I thank you for helping me honor their memories and their families.
Thank you for supporting Kid in a Candy Store (Community Edition) and Drew and Ethan!
Love,
